View Full Version : Tube quality question

After everything I've heard about Bob at Eurotubes, I orders a full set for my Mesa Recto-o-verb (I'm giving it one more chance to get to that sound in my head).

I received the tubes, and am going to put them in tonight, but I noticed that the 6L6's have chips of glass stuck to the inside of the tubes (I'm assuming from the vaccuum) - is this normal? I don't recall seeing this on any of the Mesa tubes I received, but want to know if I should be extra worried putting these in, or should be returning them for a new set.

May be a stupid question - just never seen that before.

Call Bob and ask him. If there's a problem, he'll send out some new ones pronto.

WOW! That was fast, literally sent an email and got a response within 15 minutes (great customer service or good timing? I'd like to feel it was good service)

At any rate, for those of you wanting to know, here was Bob's response:

Hi Peter:

The specs are not glass, it is mica flecks from the mica spacers. This happens when the getters are flashed from the intense heat and is completely normal.

Thanks

Bob

There you go - mystery solved
