View Full Version : Diablo photos
Hi Folks,
I posted these on the Gear Page and thought some of you who are not members or hadn't checked in there would appreciate Joe's work. He is just a super person. And, the process of working with him has been a ton of fun and a great learning experience.
Have a good day,
Dave

Hi Dave.
That looks like it's gonna be a great guitar!!! I've just ordered a Diablo from Joe and, although much earlier on in the process (ordered only a few days ago), am already very excited by the work Joe does and his cool attitude. It's great to see your guitar in the making, and thanks for sharing. To see some similar pics of my own in a few months would be fantastic! :)
Cheers, Q.

Dave,
Awesome pics of an awesome guitar. Wow.
Thank you, Michael. Yes, the body is cocobola. Not going to be the lightest 6-string, but I'm tremendously excited about the tonal possibilities. Joe's a one-of-a-kind and a true artist (by the way, your Thorn looks like a monster.)
I appreciate all of the kind feedback and look forward to sharing the rest of this with you. We live in a time of great opportunity for the "guitar enthusiast." Call Joe.
Last one...
and, good night,
Dave

Beautifull guitar!
I'm completely in awe by it, but do have to say that the fretboard and the side view is what strucks me the most!!!
Congrats on the new axe.

Please see Jo's idea (Damn fine one at that).

Now that its sanded, that color pops! Thats a good lookin' quilt ya got there. I spoke to Joe earlier today and he said he was spraying an orange and blue Diablo. Keep those pictures coming. Its exciting to see some guitars finally coming out of the spray booth. With the amount of guitars he has ready, we should be getting alot of eye candy.

No offense Dwes, great guitar, but what stain does it have on now? almost looks bonnie pinkish. Looks nothing like the orange in your later photo. I like this color JOE!!!
Hi Dr.,
I really like that, too. It's orange (and super cool looking). Joe sanded the guitar after staining it orange to accentuate the quilt before spraying the yellow.
Have a good one,
Dave

Has anyone noticed that the New PRSalike from Tokai has a very Driskillalike headstock?
Check out www.tokaiguitars.com (http://www.tokaiguitars.com) and find the LR30 and LR40

It has to be a pretty fresh pic. That is my lake salvaged brown quilt on the far right. That is the natural color, by the way.
I think the pic is new because mine looks like it has at least one finish coat, and the latest pics I received on Sat. only had sealer and pore filler on them.
This part of the wait is the hardest - so close, but yet so far.

Thanks gm
The top is 100-150+ yr. old lake salvaged quilt maple. Lake salvaged meaning that it came from a maple log that sunk long ago when the waterways were used to move lumber. Being under water for so many years naturally stained the wood brown.
By the way, I sourced this myself. Joe does not have a supply of it.
Bill
Impressive that you were able to hold your breath long enough to find that log underwater, Bill. ;)
Now, can you hold your breath long enough to wait for the guitar?
Might I suggest a few appropriate first songs to play when you do receive it:
-The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald
-Atlantis ("way down below the ocean")
-Octopus' Garden
-Yellow Submarine
