Looks like someone got to him. After the Fender appearance, looks like someone convinced him to see the light. Noticed he was playing a Catalina Dream Starla.:dude:

Not only that, but it was through a PRS amp :dude:

Good eye! I didn't notice the amp. I also heard that Orianthi will be performing on the show tomorrow night.

I normally havent given Starlas a 2nd look, but I REALLY liked that one he was playing. That is a standard color then?

I don't watch the show (never have, never will), but that is great exposure for PRS.

Noticed the PRS also. He is not really much of a player.
Pretty good country rock voice and seems like real nice guy, though.
Should do OK down the road after this is over.

He's actually an excellent player, when not boxed in by the American Idol "machine". He's done quite a bit of studio work back home in Texas. I'd post some vids of the Casey James Band but they all got pulled down when he made the show.

He certainly seems to have some chops, just that Idol is supposedly a singing/popularity contest. Would be nice though if they just let him rip a bit for once.

Yesterday on the drive in to work, I was thinking that I don't play my Starla much.

Then last night I see Casey using the one on Idol and it's like ... too cool!

I'll be tuning in tonight to see Oranthi ... oh and to see who gets booted off, too. :D

I think he is on his way.

Does PRS have an official deal with American Idol? It seems like more and more contestants are using them, and I know that Ricky Minor has played them frequently on the show since the beginning.

Rickey Minor, the band leader and music director, is actually a bass player - and I don't believe he plays a PRS bass. But the usual guitar player (Paul Jackson, Jr.) - who's great, by the way - consistently plays a variety of PRSi. I've seen 513s, Singlecuts, and some acoustics, too. He is now using PRS amps, as well - I can't tell which one, but it always sounds great.

Thanks for the info. All this time I thought that Minor was the guitar player.
