Since a DGT was designed for 11's, are the nut slots cut a bit wider than a CU24 which will handle 9's easily.

If you drop down to 9's on a DGT will the base slot be sloppy? I know a few of you have tried this and most have dropped to 10's at smallest or stayed at 11's. I've played 9's all my life and my whole style is built around 9's. I just prefer them to heavier strings, especially since I'm not playing regularly and don't have the strength in my hands and heavy callouses I once had.
Thanks:D

Oh yea, I've got one coming!

Probably depends on the specific guitar. Mine had a poorly cut nut (i.e., not cut wide enough), so 9s probably would have been perfect on it. If it's cut properly for 11s (as most of them should be) it might be a bit sloppy with 9s, though I suspect it will be fine.

I'll say this -- the guitar is good enough that it's worth having work done. I spent money on a setup and nut work to get mine right. If the slots are too wide, have a new nut cut for it.

Don't get me started. Or anyone else with a fourteen-year-old sense of humour for that matter. We've discussed loose nuts, tight nuts, nut lube and other double-entendre-friendly topics. But never sloppy nuts. God help me!

you should be, fine... actually. i always like to open up the nut slots on all my guitars, especially the trem ones!!! wider nut slots will mean no string binding in the nut so no tuning problem when you use the trem.... should be fine with 9's on it. i mean we're only talking thousands of an inch!!! so i am in favor of Slightly sloppy nuts!!!
LOL!!!

Try it with 10's, it will feel similar to your other guitars with 9's.
