Since I had to take my Recto into the shop to get channel-switch popping fixed, I've got nothing but the old Alvarez to fiddle with for a while now. It's been so long since I've spent any quality time with it, hopefully the break will do me good. And now I don't have high-gain to hide behind when I mess up.
Looks like I'd better start practicing.

You'll be surprised how much good that will do for your chops. I try and warm up on my Acoustic and use it for technical exercises...It's like a warm-up bat in baseball...When you go back to your electric you will fly and have tone..;)

'Keef' Richards says he plays acoustic guitar almost exclusively when he's not touring or recording. He says it makes him work harder and improves his technique.

Well, I for one believe in doing whatever it is that makes Keith great - cough, cough, gag, wheeeze.

I've been playing my acoustic alot lately and I can just fly around around the fretboard of my electric when I switch over to it after playing my acoustic.
Very Cool !!!

My pal and I are presently working through some numbers on the EC unplugged cd - haven't played our Martins much lately, but are we enjoying it now!!
Great stuff - fingers are suffering a bit, so it must be doing us some good!

John if you keep that up you'll end up looking like this

Playing acoustic for a while is always good for bringing you back to reality to seeing how well you can really play without having to hide behind oodles of distortion.

I've now gone through my first full day of being back on the acoustic. Here's what I've figured out:
1) Damn, I suck.
2) My arm feels really awkward being bent at that angle again.
3) My finger strength has deteriorated drastically since the last time I've played my acoustic.
4) I have to work a hell of a lot harder speed-wise on this thing.
5) Damn, I suck.

Don't be too hard on yourself, Zach. I get the same way when I pick up my Fender!

Assuming you can live through it! Many have tried and many have died...

I know. It's just kind of sad how much of a difference it makes. I've come to realize that I'm an incredibly sloppy player, and I see this as a good opportunity to fix that.
