Hi there , im a forumite from boston mass USA, and I'll be traveling to london for about a week or so in the next couple of months. I was wondering if anyone on here is from london (or the surrounding area) that could direct me to any cool places to go and things to do while im there. Anything from cool guitar shops to bands or clubs to hear live music.

Thanks!
Chris

You have to visit Denmark St (Tin Pan Alley). It's full of guitar shops, including http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/ Take a tube to Tottenham Court Road Station and it's just around the corner.

http://www.timeout.com/london/ is good for what is going on etc.

Then there are the tourist things, Buck Palace, British Museum, Tate Gallery, London Eye (Big Wheel) etc

enjoy yourself

In London there are SO many bands to see... you'll have your pick of hundreds of places all over the capital most nights of the week, but I remember Camden in particular being full of venues. You'll get mostly unsigned bands in the smaller venues, but it'd be easy enough to check the internet for any bigger acts around when you're here. You'd be able to buy tickets online too I reckon, if any gigs take your fancy.

Also try and check out the Hard Rock Cafe guitar museum, its free to get in and you can see Hendrix's flying V among with lots of other historic guitars.

A good guitar shop is Charlie Chandler's near Hampton court palace.

The Denmark street shops are good but very expensive and as for bands there are lots to see and the smaller venues such as the Marquee and the Jazz cafe in Camden have lots on. The pizza express in Dean St also has great jazz gigs.

I work in london sometimes so let me know when you are coming and we could possible meet up for a beer.
