October was a wash out and November was about the same.
December sucks, as well.

Hey, John,

The weather is always what it is. I'll be sitting in this week doing some more pre-holiday pot stirring early next week with a Beef Stew recipe I found on epicurious.com.

The season isn't going to be about the spiral ham, turkey or prime rib roast this year for us at home in CT, just something with good herbs, a bottle of wine, and beef broth in it with plenty of veggies.

Just stay warm either bundled up in clothes, or at least healthy with a warm mug of cinnamon-stick cider. That always makes me feel better.

If the weather is sloppy mush where you are, don't worry. Many people would rather have sloppy mush than frozen snow and ice. In CT, it's below freezing.

Personally, I don't mind the cold because when I go out with friends to jam on cold nights, I bundle up with a vest or polyester shell and leather jacket, then shed the jacket when I get inside to jam. I also wear fingerless rag-wool gloves so in case I need to use the phone, I don't need to take off the gloves.

Thursday/Friday it'll be below 11 degrees when we pack up after midnight. Nothing compared to Dino's weather, I'm sure, but enough to make your boogers freeze. :D

Is your house warm enough, not too much work to worry about, just enough alcohol to unwind with, sufficient food? Me, I'm counting my blessings this year. I don't owe the credit card companies boatloads of cash, I have a well-stocked fridge, and more than enough of what I consider necessities of life. I don't own a lot of luxury items, and because I live a simple, balanced life, I am not stressed by work, health, family, or finances.

If the past three months have been bad for you, think of what you already have. Then think of how I value life and its blessings.

FWIW, I am sitting here in front of my iMac with a mug of Sam Adams Winter Lager. We're here if you want to explain why you are not feeling so good. Speaking of which, I have Joe Cocker's "Feelin' Alright" on my iTunes just now.

My friend, Burt Teague purchased a Brent Mason "Hot-Wired" pedal from Wampler Pedals three weeks ago, and it hasn't arrived yet, so I am looking forward to hearing it. Me, I'll soak my feet in an epsom-salts bath before heading to bed. My Gram is getting weaker during these winter months (Gram's 102 years old) and I worry about her. She and Mom are the closest family I have; losing her in death would be a tragedy during the winter. So yes, I am counting my blessings for now.

Ah, yes, some Brian Setzer on iTunes. I expect more of this to take place as we near New Year's Eve. And some Led Zep from 'Presence.' What next? And that would be the answer: SRV from "Couldn't Stand the Weather" :)

John,

What can we do to make your troubles go easier for you? A cold drink or hot meal? Somebody else to do the holiday shopping for you? Something to bring you back from the edge? Somebody to play your favorite Aerosmith song? (In his best Groucho Marx voice, "If I could walk that way...") :)

Trust me, the holidays will come and go comparatively stress-free if we all remember to stay hydrated without as much alcohol in our systems unless we are socially drinking.

If we avoid overeating and heavy drinking at all times, we stand to benefit.

The question remains, what can we do for you, John? We're here if you want to vent a bit about "the storm" you are experiencing.

- Just weathering the storm.

The weather always changes.

I had a terrible year last year with Cat Scratch disease and then broke my back in January. The year has ended well.

I hope yours will do the same.:dude:

Hang in there.

Darren.
