We did a special gig tonight. Pretty fun. The bass player in my band has another group, the guitar player from that band and his son (who drums and plays guitar), joined my group (power trio) for a fund raiser.

This guy, Josh, had a motorcycle wreck this past summer and is now wheelchair bound. He was VERY underinsured healthcare-wise and he and his wife are in RIDICULOUS debt (literally millions!) from all the medical bills. This particular fundraiser was intended to fund a remodel of their bathroom to make it functional for him. His wife told me that this was their first fundraiser that actually made it's goal. Not only did they make it, but they exceeded it! They brought in a fair amount of cash, but not only that, there were a bunch of contractors in the audience, they pledged labor and a lot of materials for the remodel!

I found out through the course of conversation that Josh was a fellow guitar player. Due to a partial paralysis of his left hand, he is currently unable to play anything more than simple barre chords, however a planned surgery should restore some of his motion and make it possible for him to play again. I intended to offer him some free lessons when he is ready, help him get his hands back in shape and relearn the things he has lost.

I would like to hit up all my brothers on BAM and TGP for some help for this guy, his wife and kid. Any loose change you might have or anything you might be able to donate would be fantastic. I am going to find out from her where/how to do donations and will post as soon as I have the info.

Thanks!

Don't mean to sound like a cheapskate (I'm a college student!) but all I can do is wish him well. Very cool that people are willing to do things for others. Congrats on raising the money and much mojo sent their way! Love reading this sort of thing!

Edit: obviously I don't love reading the part about their problems, but the part that makes me reaffirm my belief in the good will of humans!
