I'm asking for thoughts and prayers for my family this week. I'll be leaving in a few hours to begin a trip that'll take me from VA to MD by car, from MD to CA by air, where I meet up with my brother Chet (CAFeathers) and then drive to OK to pay my last respects to my older brother Carl, who is dying from liver failure at the age of 50. Nothing can be done for him, he gave up a long time ago.

I have so much that I am truly thankful for. But there won't be much celebrating this week. Thanksgiving dinner will probably be from the cafe in the hospital.

Prayers for traveling mercies will be especially appreciated. And please, please, please let your loved ones know how much you love them!

If I know you well enough, you will offer whatever comforting words you may be able to in order to allow Carl to find peace in his last days. Carl may not have long to live, but there is hope that family can take strength in that Carl will be remembered for his accomplishments, even if they were few, and in time of need, family can count on us at BaM to provide support for grieving family members.

Robin, you can count on me if you want someone to talk to. I have information that you may want to know if you don't know it already. Some hope for Carl and your family. PM me if you want to talk.

Robin/Chet,

I can't imagine what this is like for you; I have no siblings. Most of me wishes that I had and would have had the chance to share my life with them, but a large part of me has always known that I would have dreaded losing them. It matters not; I'll never know, all I can do is imagine. And now I am trying to imagine myself in your shoes.

This will be tough, perhaps as tough as it gets. I wish I could be there for you but the best I can offer is all the mojo that I can muster. Be strong for Carl, and be strong for each other. I sincerely hope that his passing is pain-free and peaceful, with all of the dignity that the human condition rightly demands.

I'm praying for you and your family. I know the situation you've described. It sucks because we just can't understand why they don't care. Everytime my brother squeeks out of ICU he goes home and within a few months slips right back into the same pattern. Everyone tries to help, except him. I wish you and your brothers the peace you deserve.

I lost my brother in September. He was 50. This past Friday would have been his birthday.
It's still difficult to deal with. But you and Chet have each other to lean on. That will help you through this difficult time. Hang in there.

Robin and Chet, so sorry to hear the news. Stay strong, family can really help each other through in times like this. My wife's aunt passed away from cancer and from this experience I can truly say that being there can and will help you all. Prayers and mojo to you and yours.

Just an update, it's after 1AM and Chet and I just arrived in OK. We'll be going to see him in the morning. Last update we got on him was that he's still hanging in there.

This is a difficult time and my best wishes are with you. Having been through a similar situation we accepted, but did not dwell on the current events. We spent most of the time remembering the good times, old pictures, and talking about memories.

Well, I got to spend 5 days at the hospital with him. He had good days where he was awake and having conversations with us. Then other days he was sleepy and hallucinating when he was awake.

I said goodbye to him this evening. Probably for the last time. It was a tough way to spend Thanksgiving, but I can't think of anyplace else I would like to have been. My family appreciates the continued prayer.

I have not had the pleasure to meet you, but I have met Chet a number of times. He is a good guy.

I think I have played through a cool cake-pan amp that you built, so I guess I know something of you, too.

My heart-felt prayers go out to you and to Chet; and to Carl, that he passes peacefully and that he gets all of the blessings as he meets the Lord.
