View Full Version : My own private Experience...

Since I wasn't able to attend the Experience, I decided to have my own little personal experience in my front yard. The weather has been terrible so I was fighting trying to get some pics in the few fleeting moments of sunlight, so some pics are better than others. And my camera sucks. And I'm a terrible photographer. Actually, I'm just flat out not a photographer. Nevertheless, here are a few pics...

- Cloudy days are actually better for outdoor pix than sunny days;
- Keep the sun to your back;
- FStop: a larger number brings more into focus while a smaller one will be tight; For an object like a guitar, a tight focus is likely better; But for a group shot, you'll want the focus to be more wide open;
- You can drop the light factor if the sun is too bright (e.g., -1 EV);
- With a stationary object (guitar), you can get up close physically vice zooming; So, basically try to get a position where the sun doesn't seem to reflect on chrome et al as much; Walk around and move the camera up-down/left-right;
- For real super close ups, you'll need to flip to "macro mode";
Just some hints...
Guitars like those...look great in any light!

Thanks, it's a Custom 22, Brazilian neck, fretboard, and unfinished Brazilian top, Mahog body, Regular neck carve.
Quite an amazing experience! I know that it would be almost impossible to find a trio like that in one place!:dude: Did you have them all built to your specs??

No, I got the HB from fellow BaMmer Tim, saw it and literally had to have it. We communicated for close to a year before finalizing a deal on that one. I believe it use to belong to Z at one point as well.
The Brazilian, I had been thinking of it for months and actually contacted a dealer to order it, but the dealer just kept dragging his feet, and lo and behold, a few months later I find the exact one I had been imagining. Regular neck carve and all, exactly what I was looking for, very strange coincidence, I am the first owner of that one.
The Santana was just recently picked up off ebay, having never played one, I was quite blown away by it. The sweet switch is fantastic, love the neck carve and scale, sounds amazing.
What are you planning next?...going to be tough to find something interesting enough me thinks!!

I have a Suhr I ordered coming, should be mid Nov, basically a Knopfler, one piece quilt top, bound Mahog body and non-bound neck, even c slim, Brazzy board, H-S-S pups (not EMGs) in white, vintage trem, looking forward to that one, then I will probably take it easy for a while, I need to pay off mine and the wife's cars. If it isn't one GAS it's another LOL. I may do a little swapping here and there though, it never ends :p
Stunning! Where is the beer tent? :D

:rolleyes: I suppose I should consider the implications of my titles a little closer LOL! I should thank you publicly for being responsible for 2 of these 3 beauties! The Burl Queen, which I had to pry from your steely grasp and the Santana that you were nice enough to point me in the direction of. Now about McMammoth... :D
