What the general opinion on the Bad Cat amps? Better or worse than the 90's Matchless line? I've been jonesing for one lately.
These amps are not "better" or "worse" than the original Matchless amps. IMHO, they are voiced differently than the Matchless amps. The build quality is top notch. I spent about a month with a Hot cat 30 head. I personally liked the amp quite a bit. The high gain sounds were amazing. Notes and chords really had a nice clarity and attack. I liked the clean tones as well, although I would not consider the clean tones to be what this amp does best IMHO. The cleans seemed somewhat one dimensional and lacked the "color" that I've come to know from Say Matchless amps, or even some of the other Bad cat models.
I did some recording with the Hot cat, and my friend who owns it has gigged it heavily (5 nights per week) for the past two years without any incident. Some say it is a hard amp to dial in, but I personally did not have any trouble finding settings that I liked, and dialing it in quickly.

Thank you for your imput. Glad to hear the build quality is so high! I'll have to see if anyone carries the line in the Seattle area.
