How do you get a strap onto those big buggers without taking them off and reinstalling??

It's driving me mad!

I think you just answered your own question. I just did that yesterday with one of mine.

I have a levys strap which has a thick leather portion and when I first got my CE i had to trim it a bit to get it on there but i never fear that the strap will break not to mention i have had that strap longer than i had the guitar. Something like 8 years still looks good. You just might have to trim it or work at it a bit. Maybe even some leather conditioner if the ends are leather.

Yeah, I had a Couch Guitar Strap I wrote about in another thread (vegan-friendly), and I had to really work it on there for a few minutes, which sucks because I prefer to store the guitars back in their cases when I'm done, which means I have to spend a few minutes taking it off again each time.

Once this last trade I'm working on is complete (thanks USP45Tim!), I'll be at 8 PRS's, and I'm seriously considering whether I should dedicate a strap with straplocks to each one just for convenience factor.

For my big thick leather Moody straps I just loosen the rear strap pin a little bit. Zero issues once I do that.

Of course the PRS straps are cut to fit the PRS strap buttons. For many years with various PRSi I just used my old Music Man strap which I believe I got in 1980! I'm using a Planet Waves strap on my only current PRS (a KL1812) with good luck - I did't have to extend the cut or really work it into place; it fits just like a PRS strap does.

That's a good tip about the PRS Straps, thanks! They're cheaper at SamAsh with free delivery, I'm going to try one and see how I like it.

Sam Ash sells PRS Straps online for $30. Nice straps and no problem attaching them. Come in Tan or Black.

I take the strap buttons off, put them in a bag, put the bag in the guitar case and then put strap locks on the guitar. Factory PRS screws fit Schaller Strap locks perfectly so there is no need to redrill or fill the holes.

I haven't had a problem with any strap, yet. You could take a utility knife and make a small incision to lenghten the opening. As long as the punched hole equals the diameter of the strap button, there shouldn't be any other issues.

Just play while sitting in a chair. No strap needed!
