Been thinking about getting a McCarty II because I miss my McCarty terribly and was wondering how guys are diggin' it. Is it a step up from the original McCarty? How is MVC? Single coil tones better on the McCarty II?
Thanks!

I'm interested in hearing from any McCarty 2 owners. Haven't had a chance to try one myself. The design seems like a very practical and useful toneshaper. It's interesting in that it has had a luke warm reception so far compared to other new offerings from PRS like the DGT and Korina models.
I did have a listen to the demo on youtube with Paul working the controls and describing the tone shaping features he designed while the other guy was playing. It sounded good to me.
Warren Hayes signature LP is a 58RI with a preamp. Active electronics are a fact of life in the bass playing world, most high end basses have them. What's the problem here? I know the regular McCarty is missed. Probably just a more conservative guitar playing crowd that like the classic electric guitar designs more than inovation. Give it a chance.

Can't tell you how they perform, but Wild West has a black one they're letting go at a "No Bull" price. I was thinking about one last summer, but then the 57/08's came out, and I've been GASn' for one of those.

I like my McCarty ll. The bridge pickup shorted out for some reason and I sent it back to PRS for repair. Its a very versatile guitar. I recorded my bands demos with it. I can make it almost sound like an acoustic or make it flat out scream. You can check out my recordings at bagbrothers.net Thats me playing Sunshine of Your Love on the Mc ll when the website opens up. When you enter the website click on sounds. On Sandman I make it sound like an acoustic. I just used the MVC on the guitar. I recorded throgh a modified 5 watt Blackheart amp. The only effects I used were chorus, delay, reverb and CryBaby. Its a great guitar, its a shame guitarist don't realize its full potential.
