weird routes 91 custom 24??

[85 custom 24]

My friend bought this off a well known seller on ebay and it has these weird routes in the pickup cavities. I don't think it's original, I wonder if he over paid considering this was not addressed during the sale. It was $2200 shipped with a changed nut, and a 3 way switch added.

Those cavities were definitely modded. I've never seen a PRS where they let the router bit burn the wood like that.

On the bright side, it doesn't appear to have damaged the finish and it's not visible with the pickups in place. I'd only be concerned if they're bumping up the price as "vintage".

Wonder if the cavities were routed bigger for a different pickup.
But what would it have been...EMG's Dimarzios?

a 91 is considered somewhat collectible. He is a player but is worried about the resale value for the future.
