OK I've decided to pull the trigger this weekend and do my part to stimulate the economy. I've heard all the wonderful things about the 57/08 limited edition guitars but unfortunately NONE of the dealers in Arizona are getting them in. This means I need to order one without playing it first. So for you guys that have played both the McCarty and the sc245 how different are they in tone and what is the difference if any. Thanks in advance. I hate not playing one first but it sounds like they're going fast and it sounds like PRS quilt tops are going to be almost non-existent.

Did you try Rainbow Guitars in Tucson? I bought my Hiland from them.

Yea they had some but sold the McCarty and 245's they had. They have some CU24's left but that's not what I'm after.

Guitar Center in Atlanta has a McCarty Sunburst with the 57/08 pickups and nitro finish. The price was 2899 last Friday. I bought their Sunburst 245. They are both amazing. Call them and ask for Will.

If you like the split sounds the McCarty offers, then go for it. The SC offers a bit more bottom end thump. They are both great guitars!

Hmm, thanks for the note, Jim. I might have to stop by and check it out, before it sells!
