Can anyone suggest good headphones for studio use or late night playing through a Tech 21 modeling amp or POD?
I am looking for good sound reproduction. So far I have been recommended AKG K-240, Sennheiser HD-280, Fostex T-40 or T-50, & Sony MDR-7506. Any comments on these models would be appreciated. Thanks.

I use the AKG K270DF. The bottom end is not as full as the closed design but is still very clear. I find a certian 'aliveness' to the upper registers well. I play my STD22 into my pod and out into these headphones.

I'm happy with the Sony MDR-7506 headphones. They're comfortable and sound good.
I think they were just under $100.

In the studio I have:
Fostex T-12
Sony 7506
AKG K270S
Sennheisers
Stax Electrostatics
Grado Labs HP-1000
The Grados are the most natural sounding, and the closest to my Genelecs. The rest have their pros and cons; the Sonys are great for tracking, as are the AKGs and Fostex. The Sennheisers are good for general use, but not for tracking.
The Stax are very hi fi, but not quite as natural sounding as the Grados.
They're all good, all have their uses!

AKG K271's. They do me right. I have K270, K240S too; but the 271's are the *one*.

The Sonys get my vote. I have had them for a couple of years. Try going to audioreview.com, where you will find approximately 45 reviews on them. You can also serach out other brands for recommendations. The reviews are of course geared towards stereo users, but it may help you decide. In addition, if you do a Google search (Sony 7506 headphones) or try your local GC, you should be able to pick them up for less than $100. They seem to be on sale at quite a few places.
