View Full Version : Cool Wiring Ideas?

This summer I'm rewiring my SSE with #10 pickups. Right now I have the standard 3 way toggle non-tapping. I'm looking to keep the toggle, two pot setup, but was looking to do something different with the wiring. I know I can put a push-pull on the tone pot and go McCarty, but was looking for suggestions on something cooler. Any ideas/how to do it?

You could add a second push pull, or drill for a mini toggell and go series/parallel as well.

Aren't #10 equipped with vintage style shielded wires and a coil split like the McCarty pickups?

If they are, you won't be able to do anything except coil splitting. You need 4-conductor (or 3 in the PRS case) wires in order to do series/parallel or out-of-phase wiring.

Not sure Andrew-

I know Jo was able to pull a "dial-a-coilsplit" kind of thing with 10s on her TSE. I'm new to wiring so I'm not sure.

My understanding is that the 10s aren't splittable.

They're also pretty hard to come by.

I don't know how, but the pusher said i can get a set through him...and they definitely are splittable.

If PRS is custom winding the 10s, you can probably ask them for modern hookup wiring as opposed to the braided vintage style.
