My band, Way Out Willie, has been booked to play at Busch Stadium this Friday afternoon, 8/20. We will be playing from 4-6 inside the stadium, at one of the picnic areas. The one overlooking the visiting bullpen, I think.

The Cardinals have a day-night double header that day. And they want to keep folks entertained between games.

Any St. Louis area BAMer's?

Any chance of an English translation, or even Welsh? :D

"I know a cat called Way Out Willie"...first line of famous Bo Diddley-beat type song "Willie and the Hand Jive" by I don't know who. Ricky Nelson?

Busch Stadium...St. Louis, Missouri - a big city on the Mississippi River; Busch Stadium's where their powerful baseball* team, the St. Louis Cardinals play.

8/20 is our way of saying 20/8. 20th of August.

Visiting Bullpen...Bullpen is where the pitchers, the guys who throw the ball most of the time, hang out when they're not pitching. I don't know why it's called a bullpen. "Visiting" refers to the team that has come to visit St. Louis to play the "home" team, the Cardinals.

Day-Night Doubleheader - this means the Cardinals will be playing their opponent TWICE on the 20th of August. Once at about 1 PM, then all the paying fans must clear out. Then, at maybe 7:30 game 2 starts and the new fans must pay anew. Each team plays maybe 2 doubleheaders per year.

Thanks for the insight into your wonderful mis-use of English ;)

Way Out Willie - My band's name. Taken from "Willie and the Hand-Jive". Also a double-entendre for our drummer's wang.

Busch Stadium - A baseball stadium in St. Louis, Mo. USA. The Beatles, Stones, and The Who have all played there.

8/20 - The date. August 20, 2004

the visiting bullpen - In the game of baseball (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=baseball&r=67), there are two teams, the home team and the visiting team. Also there is an area of the field where the pitchers warm up. That area is called the bullpen.

Cardinals - A Major League Baseball team, who make their home at Busch Stadium(see above).

day-night double header - On occasion, two teams will play eachother twice on the same day. That is called a double header. When the first and second game of the double header are split by several hours, it is refered to as a day-night, or split double header.

Any questions?

Believe it or not Cliff Richard did a version in 1960, B-side of Fall in Love with You.

Apparently Johnny Otis wrote it

Now you're going to have to tell him what a wang is.

I'll leave it to you. You have a much better way of explaining things to our European friends.

Congratulations. There was a sports bar here called "Slick Willies." Locally, thats what people often called the home-town boy Bill Clinton.

There was also a mexican restaraunt here called "Way out Willies." Best fajitas in town, until it closed. Best of Luck.

Well, it turns out we will be outside the stadium. The lady that our drummer talked to on Monday, when we booked the gig, said we would be somewhere inside the stadium. He talked to someone yesterday, to get the particulars, and was told we would be in the plaza just outside the stadium.

Not quite as cool:( But, still not too bad:) Makes more sense that way too. Since they would need to clear out the stadium before the second game.

Hope the weather is good.
