A Private Stock CE, incredible guitar! How about a bolt-on Brazilian neck!

Definitely an awesome guitar. That is one killer finish.
I wonder what the rationale was behind going the bolt-on route, and how that in combination with the BRW Neck and FB affects the tone...

I can't figure out how to do a quote here, but John's question is also mine. Does the bolt-on configuration give the BRW neck more brightness? That is the one thing I would change about a BRW neck guitar is that sometimes they can be a bit muddy sounding.

That's sweet
I'm surprised you don't see more PS CEs, if you're looking for a unique tone that could definitely be the way to go!

Maybe there are multiple necks for it. Maple, walnut, BRW, etc. Different neck & fretboard combos would be cool.

My thoughts exactly.

Gorgeous colour. I love it.
I guess anyone could get their own neck made to the CE specs and just bolt it on. I know I've thought of getting a RW neck made to put on mine.
But what really makes a CE a CE?.. the fact that it's a bolt on model or that it's a maple neck. What's not to say that's a custom with a bolt on RW neck?

That's an interesting question. I've always looked at the bolt on neck as the defining characteristic. Doesn't make it so though.
You may note, this PS has an alder body. That's a CE trait.
The interchangeable neck concept is cool...until you consider you could buy about 6 CEs and custom necks for 5 of them for the price of one PS. :)

I too wonder about the point of a bolted rosewood neck. IMHO, it's the maple neck, not the method of attachment that gives the CEs their zing.

That's a cool top for sure, but don't we all know the CE gets NO respect?
So what's it sell for..... $1600, maybe $2k? Isn't that pretty much the upper limit?

I think I know who owns that PS... Is it for sale? I'd be very surprised, as the owner just got it a couple of months ago...

Went to Ballmer with for an apppointment with Phil Jacoby on Feb. the 5th or so, doing my first major mod. And that was to my only PRS, which I got second-hand a few years back. Was going in with a slight case of first-go jitters.
Got Phil to now mod my CE from five-way rotary to McCarty push-pull, and insert #10 pups. Phil did some needed fretwork and intonation adjustments, too, and I wanted to add a fresh plug for Phil’s handiwork/ artisanship for mods and other work. Great guy, great work.
Aren't those the usual private stock pickups I just put in the CE, the #10s?

Love the color of that burst.
Tom Anderson has built a number of guitars with bolt-on rosewood necks, so there's actually a precedent for this particular CE.

I think this is the one I saw a few months ago in Florida. If it is, I can tell you that it's way outrageous in person, and it sounds freaking incredible!!!

It's nice to see somebody go a little different on a Private Stock. Awesome guitar and kudos to the owner!

I don't think it's it the maple neck which gives the CE it's zing but more the bolt on factor, I completed a warmoth hollow les paul (mahogany with quilt top, trem and bolt on rosewood with a single coil in the mid and neck position) and the thing is that especially in the mid and neck it sounds just like a strat with all the zing and crispyness!

It's nice to see somebody go a little different on a Private Stock. Hey, I've got a totally different idea for a PS...just don't have that much disposable income. But...MMMAAANNNNNNN if I did!!! Dude!
