Hey Tom -
I also got a check for $13.86 today! Not much,
but it's nice considering how many CDs I own.
It'll give me an excuse to visit Tower Records.

Yep, I got mine a few days ago and it has been deposited into my checking account. Maybe I'll put it towards a case of beer or something...

And the lawyers got 26 million.
Good for them. It was a hugely complex piece of litigation, and they had to shell out major resources and funds up front with no guarantee of ever recouping. They deserve it. There's nothing better than doing well while doing good.
How much do you think the defendants' lawyers got paid to defend their clients' illegal and socially harmful activities? Why don't you complain about that?

Good point.
So, how 'bout those sleazeball record company lawyers, eh? We stuck it to em didn't we! Yea. Fight the power!

i couldn't in good conscience apply for it because of the amount that i download. there's a difference between fighting it and greedily taking everything that you can get your hands on.
however, i'm sure there will be a ton of people here who don't agree with my course of action (save it...) and it's good to see that people on the other side of the file sharing fence have their own mode of recourse now.
however, if i had known about this (http://www.donatemymusiccheck.com/), i might have applied for one of these checks. brilliant.
