Also posted this on the gear page BTW:

Okay. Finally got my Standard 24 PRS I have been waiting 8 months for. Acoustically, this guitar sings. Plays well too, and all gold with birds, is garish in just the right way:D
One problem. The pickups are TERRIBLE. I do not like the VB/HFS combo at all! Sounds fair in the neck, and in the "middle" position ( 5 way rotary) but a bit muddy over all, I am not keeping these. they just don't do it for me. The Dragon II in my CU22 sound great in that guitar, but I would like to keep the open coil look. I've always been a duncan man, Usually APH II in the neck, and 59 bridge, but I'd like to hear suggestions. Not interested in spending 300 bucks a peice, but I'd like to know what you guys with standards use if you changed em. Oh yeah, didn't like the Custom Custom in any guitar I have ever had it in.

Blues, Rock type guy, Grissom, RF, and cool rock tone as well. DrZ Z28 and a couple o pedals my rig. thanks for input! This is my first all mahogany guitar, and I always like the way mahog. without maple sounds in other guits, so I'm sure I am not liking the pups.

Well, I never have tried a 59b in an all mahogany guitar with a trem though. And I want to keep the 5 way so I will need to order one anyway, curious if people tried them. You don't find the CC to midrangey in your standard? It was way to mid for me in the LP's and superstrats I tried them in. Could just be me though.

BTW Glad you kept it. Sexy guitar!

Oh I just remembered I have a APHII neck floating around already. Maybe I'll order a 59 or a Pearly Gates, just to give it a shot.......

If you want more bite in the treble position, try the custom or custom 5. You'll have to flip the magnet if you want hum-cancelling in the split rotary positions. I did it on my custom which has alnico pro 2 neck and a distortion bridge.
