just got this email

hi. i would like to buy your phone, if you agree to certain terms.

first, i am from romania, i would need to have the phone shipped here.
second, i cant open a paypal account, so i would like to pay by world-wide-escrow.org. this is a service designed to prevent fraud in online transactions.

if these are not an issue for you, i would gladly buy this phone, no matter what the price would be.

i smell doggy doo. :D

gonna ask him to send me £1000.

Al - assuming you haven't done already, don't even reply. Big Ginger Git is right - just ignore and delete it.

Silence will achieve exactly the same result, and if you reply, he'll now have your genuine email address (which he won't have yet if the contact came via eBay's message forwarding). Known-genuine email addresses are a traded commodity among scammers, spammers and other net low-lifes.

Anyway, why even waste the few seconds typing a response when you could be doing something more interesting? Unless you're at work of course... ;)
They already have my 'real' email address. I just respond with "yes" period. They follow up and I respond with "yes" period. I do this until they get tired.
Got one just today for a PRS Holowbody for $400. The first three emails were in extremely broken english. The last one reads, "hey man i work only with serious people so please be serious. If YOU WANT TO BUY SMTH TELL ME". I responded with "what year model is your SMTH"? :) Haven't heard back from him.

my standard reply is "mmmwu ha ha ah ah ah ppppppppffffft - yourself feck away re-arrange go this and."

it'll probably take them all week to work it out with their 'broken english for dummies' book :D

What amazes me is that they think that they're being real coy about it, anyone with half a brain could smell that one from a mile away. But I guess someone has, otherwise they wouldn't be trying it.

Just tell the guy who wants your phone to give you a call to make arrangements....

Tell them you're interested and you have proof the phone works:

Here's the latest one....the engrish is getting better.
I'm very interested in the product you have for sale on eBay. I'd like to buy
it right now. Let me know for how much would you let it go. Please advice on this. I'd like to ask you some questions if you don't mind. Is this brand new ? Do you ship to Germany ? How much will be the shipping ? There is any papers ? What payment method do you prefer ? Your method of payment will protect both of us ? I don't want to be rude but it's a lot of scam on the Internet purchase.
Note, I'm not willing to do this outside of eBay I just want to be sure if I can afford to go on before I bid.
Thanks for listening to my ramblings, Elizabeth J. Bell

Hey Phil and moderators...

These people shouldn't be allowed to talk British on this board. How do we know what they're saying? They could be plotting to take the USA back. :D
