Has anyone tried the Mesa Boogie "Bottle Rocket" tube overdrive pedal? I am interested in one of these units but there is no Mesa Boogie dealer near me.

Let me know your thoughts....thanks.

I have, and they're absolutely great, but my local Mesa dealer just told me they're discontinuing them. Argh. He's waiting on a call-back tomorrow from Mesa, but he thinks he can still get one made if they have some chassis lying around - Lemmee know if you want me to order two - they're $199.99

I am tempted but let me ask you one thing: Is it worth the extra bucks to get the V-Twin? For on stage use is there a huge difference?

The V-Twin is far more versatile... It is essentially a 2-channel Mesa pre-amp, with lots of flexability. The Bottle Rocket is the same thing, but only one channel and lacking some of the features the V-Twin has. Regarding on-stage use, it depends on how you're going to use it. The V-Twin can actually be run stright into the P.A., in a pinch... it's a pretty amazing animal. The V-1 is more for having an additional preamp circuit that you can kick in when you want. Both pedals have a true bypass. I'm only ordering a V-1 because I've wanted one since they came out, and I want to get one b4 they're discontinued, but now that I'm writing this, I'm re-considering doing that -=LOL=-.

Thanks for the clarification John - Things always make more sense when explained by someone who actually knows what they're talking about. :) I just ordered a V-1, and my V-twin is on the way... I agree with your assesment completely - I plan on using the V-1 in front of my MKIV for "insanity mode", and the V-Twin in front of my Laney as a back-up rig, which will allow my Studio Pre to go back in my home Studio where it belongs. I'm glad you told me about the Twin not being true bypass - I knew the V-1 was - It should be okay with the MKIV (?) What do you think?

Frankie,

So I finally get to try a Bottle Rocket and I really like it....so I buy two on Ebay...because I just have to have a backup right? Then I saw yet another one on Ebay with a very low price...so I bought that one too.

So now I have three of these things on the way to me....GAS is a terrible, terrible disease.;)

I see no cure in sight...

I made a seperate bypass box for my v-twin........cuz I hated the switching and it colored my sound too much.......I just use the clean and the blues channel with my mk 3's clean channel thus giving me 2 cleans, 2 dirt, and one lead......and I can still click on the eq on all the channels

The first Mesa Boogie Bottle Rocket arrived and I love it. It goes from gritty boost to gobs of saturation. This is a very FAT sounding pedal and it is amazingly quiet.

Thanks to all for your input and advice.

Tim
