My amp gave it up over the weekend, so now I'm looking for a new one. This is a home amp, 30 - 75 watts, $500 or less.
Any recommendations?

The Roland Cube-30 is my current amp of choice. I gig with it, and regularly get compliments on my tone. Nobody believes a little solid-state "practice amp" can get the kinds of sounds that this thing delivers. Granted, it's no tube amp. But for this kind of money, you can't beat it. I bought mine for $200 at a local music store. MF has them for $225 I believe.

The Roland Cube-30 is already on my list of amps to consider. They are screaming little amps.

There have been a couple people who have recently bought a Fender Blue's Jr. and have been happy with it. It's a nice little home amp that sounds great with or without pedals.

Hey Chet,
Vinny had that Cube sounding fantastic Saturday!
I thought the Fender Blues Jr was pretty cool too when I played one at GC.
If you can find one, Crate made a blonde Vintage Club amp that was a thirty watt class A ( supposedly) with EL84 that sounded great. Or there is always the Ampeg Jet/Superjet series I love as well. Brad over at Consumer Music in Vallejo ( not to far from you if I recall) has the Ampeg and Crate stuff, and is a great guy.
Good luck! Let us know what you end up with.
PS. Hope your BM came in today! My Std 24 did :dude:

My smaller amp is a Hughes & Kettner Tube Edition. It's a 2 channel amp with spring reverb. The clean channel is pretty awesome and so is the dirty channel. The only downside is their not made anymore and they only have one set of eq settings for both channels. It cost me about $300.

Thanks Guys, keep em coming.
I have also been eyeing the Roland Blues Cube series, and would like to try one of those out as well as the Vox Brian May amp.
UPS has not run here yet today, so I'm still pacing.

I have a Traynor YCV 40 with a Weber MASS 50 attenuator which works great for home. Unfortunately, the two together will be about $650. I also have a Roland Cube 30 which is a great practise amp but no where near as sweet as the Traynor. But it is still a pretty fine SS amp for low $$. I love the headphone option and Aux in which lets me jam with my CD player. A Traynor YCV 20 is in the low $400 range and is apparently pretty good at low volumes too plus it screams at gig volumes.
A friend of mine is selling a Reverend Hellhound 112 combo in near mint cond. for around $500. It has the cool cowboy patterned leather covering.
For Fender cleans and great reverb in a small/lightweight package, this one will be hard to beat.
Especially as Reverend doesnt make these anymore.

One to consider for sure is the Tech 21 Trademark 60.
Killer tones, nice adjustable boosts on both channels and it only weighs 36lbs..

Well, Here is what I ended up with today:
Marshall AVT-50
VOX Cambridge 30R
Vox VBM1

I'd vote for a V Series 3112. Although it is made by Crate (a subsidiary of St. Louis Music, the same guys that make Ampeg, Alvarez, and Knitting), I'm actually thinking of downsizing my rig to get into one of these 30 watt Class A's. It has a great EL84 sound! Please check one out before you decide!
Sincerely,
Layne

I play with a Marshall AVT-50. With the closed back the thing screams for a 50W amp. Also sounds great with pedals.

Peavey Classic 30 or Delta blues.

I had an AVT50 and it did sound very good, but when put ina mix with a set of drums it really got lost.
I went to a DSL401 and that was the best until I found the Fender Bassman Reissue. Amazing tone.
Also have a Fender Pro Jr. Loud and can keep up with drums. Only thing is it lacks reverb, and a pedal in front completes the chain for good tone. Small, lightweight and cheap.
Have not tried a Peavey .... but I am a big EL-84 class A fan. I would tend to shy away from any trannys ....
