HFS in the bridge of my Custom 24 (with a rosewood neck) is just fine. However, I find the Vintage bass not to my liking. I love is in my 1990 Special but, not in the newer CU24. It is not clear enough for me and not defined enough when using a fusiony/singy type of distortion with the neck pup. Too woofy. The neck in parallel position I like A LOT though. Any suggestions from the PRS pup side before I jump ship to another brand.

That's a tough call. Indeed I made the same observation. The McCarty Bass would probably be good but I don't know if it splits well. In addition it is probably to weak to be an adequate match for the HFS. If it must be a PRS then maybe a Dragon or Dragon II would work. Personally I didn't like the Dragon II but that may be just my opinion. In my Custom I went for WCR Hercs. They made the guitar much clearer.
