View Full Version : Singlecut string change
I'm about to switch the strings on my new singlecut stoptail from the 9's it came with to 10's. Are there any adjustments that I need to make?

Assuming your neck is setup properly, you may need to add a touch of tension to your truss rod. The increased tension of the larger gauge strings can put a bit of a bow in the neck. Although, if your neck is arrow straight right now, putting on .10's might give it just the little bow (relief) that it needs. It all depends on how the neck is now.
You will also more than likely have to reset your intonation.
thanks, how do you set the intonation on a stop tail guitar? im only familiar w/setting a tremelo bridged.

on the nonadjustable wraptails, there are 2 wee allen-head screws in the end of the birdge that you adjust. For this technique, you pretty much set each side to the outside strings, if that makes sense.
That said, I've changed back and forth from 9s to 10s on a lot of guitars, and 8 times out of 10, theyre fine without any tweaks.
