View Full Version : Which Dunlop Straplocks for my PRS?

Just wondering which set of straplocks I would have to pick up to install for my CU22. Is there a particular model type of Dunlop's various kinds of straplocks that I would have to select to fit the form of the guitar's upper horn or would I be okay picking just anything? With my SG I use the Dual Design straplocks since I like the wider flange of the strap button.

I've put the dual design lock-buttons on almost every guitar I own, from stock Fender to custom Thorn, PRS included. They look fine on anything.

They haven't failed me in over 20 years on ANY of my gigging guitars/basses.
I've got a broken/repaired headstock that wishes I had used those instead of Schallers!

Just watch the installation. For some unknown reason, the screw that inserts the strap lock is VERY soft, and strips very easily.
If you're not worried about re-sale, I'd strongly suggest SLIGHTLY drilling out the hole before you try to insert the straplock.
I've had the phillips head strip so badly that I had to do minor surgery to remove it.
What a pain.
That being said - I have Dunlop Straplocks on all of my gigging guitars.

;)Word. I've bought guitars with Schallers installed, and immediately swapped 'em out.
I have a half dozen sets of new Schallers I'll never use. My bassist swears by them, but I'll probably just give them away.

;)Are the Schallers the ones that have the screw back out on 'em ?

Funny, I prefer the Schallers...

Schallers have worked fine for me, you gotta make sure the "horseshoe" is upside down....I use DUnlops personally...the only problem I've ever had with them is when I did a neck spin(ala Steve Vai) in my younger days, and a Jackson let loose from the lock and went flying across the dance floor...no one was hurt, but I never did it again...

Funny, I prefer the Schallers...Me, too.
I actually switched from Dunlop because I couldn't get the stupid strap off the guitar! On a tight case, with how far they stick out, that's definitely not a good thing.

JamieSure. I don't mind. You like the nickel ones??
E-mail me if ya want Jamie. I'm sending out the gigbag to a fellow BAMMER (and a pedal I just sold on TGP), so I'll be heading to UPS tomorrow.

I prefer Schallers as well, what have been the bad experiences you folks that prefer the Dunlops have had with them? Im curious...
Put down one more for Schallers, I need to buy another set for my latest GAS.
