Someone told me about a customized CU24 with a tone pot that was a spring-loaded switch for coil tapping rather than the standard push/pull. It was like a ballpoint pen. You push down and it clicks in to engage the coil taps, push down again and it releases.

Anybody ever heard of a pot made like this or know where I might get one? Thanks.

* found one on the Warmoth site *

did you really? bitchin!! I had one of those on an old Ibanez roadstar for a while, and it was great! If I remember correctly, for a while they were solely made by some company like yamaha. I much prefer push push to push pull!

You'll have to let us know how the quality is.

They call them "push-push" pots. I've tried a lot of them. They might used to be good, quality pots, but anything you can buy now is a POS. Skip them, they break too easily.

Sorry Chiba, But I beg to differ. I've had them in my modded 3 pickup Firebird for volume/switching for each pickup for about 6 years & have had no problem at all. It's my "go-to" guitar. I got mine from Allparts, but they're available several places. The only downside I've encountered it that the terminals are tiny, so they're a ***** to wire.

Just MY experience with them...

Yep, I found them easier than expected. I've never seen one in use on a guitar before but I'm going to give it a try. I have heard these can wear quicker than a push/pull because of the design, but we'll see. I am basically hot rodding a solid black Hollowbody Spruce with a Duncan Jazz/JB set with coil taps using the push/push pot and chroming out all of the hardware. Should be unique. I'll post a review and pics when I get done. I'm still waiting on all my parts.
