I am fighting with a seized tuner wing. Restrung the guitar, the string slipped on the high E string and now the wing is seized. Anyone have any suggestions how to get it to release without breaking the wing? The string is wedged/caught past the left flat edge of the tuner post. I have no spare wings and do not want to break it. Any help is appreciated.

Ron,
I've never had that happen, but I suggest that you put some lubricant in the area where the string is binding, before you attempt to turn the wing.
It might just reduce the friction enough to prevent the wing from breaking.
Or, maybe you can remove the thumb screw and pull the wing off of the shaft ??
Is your wing stamped PRS by any chance ?

It is a plain old wing (wish they were the PRS marked ones). I got the wing loose, I used a screwdriver handle to gently push against the wing as I turned the tuner button. The string wedged itself when it slipped on the post.

Regarding the "PRS" marked wings. They are prone to crack.
Be glad that you don't have them. :)

My suggestion would be to use a screwdriver handle to gently push against the wing as you turn the tuner button. The string will wedge itself when it slips on the post. Hey, I'm here to help. :D
