I bought Doug Doppler's Diatonic Theory (http://www.guitar411.com/p_diatonic.html) and Harmony DVD and thus far it seems to be an excellent tuition DVD for guitar scale theory. It's had rave reviews. In case you're not aware, Doug Doppler is a former pupil of Joe Satriani, and even took over Satriani's students when Joe gave it up to go pro. Judging by some of the stuff he plays later in the DVD, he's an awesome guitarist.

I like the way that Doug constructs his lessons, I think maybe, just maybe, I might stick with this one and actually learn something for a change. When I come back from Cape Town that is. :)

Certainly worth a look.

Would this be a good intro to Theory DVD to pick up or is it geared to the theory savvy?

It's geared to those of us that don't have a clue about modes and scales. :) Though I'm sure the sections on construction would be useful to those that do. I bought it because I don't know my mixylodian from my pick n' mix. So yep, good intro.

I was one of his students for about a year. He's a pretty good teacher. I saw him not to long ago and he was supposed to get me the dvd. Well, I guess that I'll have to hunt him down and get a copy.

Just ordered a copy.

You never know when you'll see the information in "just the right way" and have the light bulb go off.

I'm on the verge of "getting it", but not quite there yet.

Fingers crossed that this one'll do the trick.
