It was very cool. Didn't realize Paul played so well. Hiland was off the charts! And there was a fun James Brown tribute. Thanks to Rick from Garrett Park Guitars for hooking me up. Got to hang in the VIP room! Really cool.
Saw EVH at the Fender show first. Wow, he's gone down hill. It's sad. But he's still Eddie I guess.
Bought a Nik Huber Flying Dolphin I get to pick up tomorrow. Really sweet, and Nik is really nice. I guess it's in the PRS extended family...
Nice!
Yeah, Nik is a very nice guy! Good quality in his guitars... The prs-es and my Huber are my favourite guitars!

That's what I got. I'm leaving in about 10 min. to go get it. I'm very happy. It has a 3 piece BRW neck. Killer player.

I thought some of you might enjoy this anecdote about how I got into the PRS Party. I attend the NAMM Show through another shop and don't know anyone personally at PRS, but each year I hear so much at the private events and wanted to go. Well, while I was in the PRS booth Paul strides in to do something and on his way out stops near me to greet someone. I figured hell, I'll not have this opportunity again and all he can say is no, right? So I excuse myself and ask "Mr. Smith, how can a person get into your private party?" Knowing full well that it was by invitation-only. He asks me if I'm a retailer, I show him my badge; he asks how many I need, hands me a pass and advises me not to miss the bus schedule. Couldn't believe it! It's clear from watching him perform that Paul is really a frustrated rock star..! :) Highlight of the night was definitely the James Brown Band's performance and seeing Paul give James' son Daryl a red PRS guitar signed by everyone in the factory. Very touching and beautiful moment.
I will be sending Paul a personal thank-you card; hope he receives his own mail.

That's cool!
You also have a wonderful collection.
It would be interesting to hear what you think about your Huber VS. PS BRW

Without pluggin in yet, I like the feel of the Huber neck a little more. Seems a little wider, I'm not sure. Also, the guitar is a little smaller, so it fits me a little better as well. Plays like a dream. It it is much closer to my single cut BRW feel wise than the ME. I love the heel on the Huber. Small things like the tone knob being a push knob rather than pull or the neck being 3 piece with small strips of maple bordering the inside "skunk" stripe are really cool. Can't wait to hear the Huber pups. Both are great guitars and I'm very lucky to be able to play both.

The Haeussel pickups are amazing.
I've put them also on my Driskill and the guitar changed a lot.
In my Dolphin I have a HOT in the bridge and a VIN in the neck, while in the Diablo I have a VIN + in the bridge and a Classic in the neck.
The ones on the Dolphin are hotter and more modern sounding, while te ones on the Driskill are more vintage and have a better clean and splitted sound.
I think that the Hauessel and BRW neck is simply killer.
Will be interesting to hear what you think

I had a Dolphin for a few days. Great guitar and the pups are very cool: sounds like someone removed a blanket from the speakers: big, open, lots of harmonics yet not harsh.
I did not keep the guitar because I at the time (last year) I couldn't justify the price tag compared to others that would make me as happy (Thorn, PRS, Grosh, etc). Not Nik's fault...the dang Euro.

I can understand you.I'm in the opposite situation:I can justify the prices on my USA guitars because the dollar is weak.
Hope that this will not change,at least since I'll pay my guitars...
