(and blues, jazz - all styles)

Just created a new photo slideshow of my Clapton Strat:

http://img23.photobucket.com/albums/v69/silverchair97/Clapton%20Stratocaster/?action=view&current=DSCN0861_2.jpg

Please post a photo of your Stratocaster, would very much like to see!

This guitar has the classic single-coil sound, my guitar is a 2002 Clapton signature Strat. Some of the specs are, a soft-V satin Maple neck, 22 vintage frets with a 9.5" radius, vintage tuners and bridge, and Vintage Noiseless pickups with TBX tone a 22db mid-boost.

The mid-boost and VN pups make this a non-traditional setup, but with the boost down, the guitars sound as clean as can be with no hum. It's perfect for me, very comfortable standing or sitting and the neck feels like it was customed-designed for me - it's great! Very versatile guitar, can play any style.

Thanks for looking - let's hear about your own :D

- I spelled "guitarists" wrong - d-oh!

Here is my newly acquired Custom Shop team built '55 Closet Classic Strat in Lake Placid Blue. I had been away from Strats for a while, went to three music stores and this was the one that spoke to me. http://www.rics-blues.com/55%20strat%201%20web.gif

dude, oldgtarz....that is absolutely amazing!!! you are truly one lucky man to have that, absolutely fantastic!

i've been begging my dad for a pre-CBS strat for a while, but i dont think it's gonna amount to anything :( However, i do have on order a '60s relic strat that i plan to send to another person to have it relic'ed a little more to look like john frusciante's '62 strat!

Let's see if this works. This is my Fender MIM Strat. The white pickguard and chrome hardware was replaced with black parts and the pickups are Bill Lawrence L-250XL in the bridge position, Bill Lawrence L-280SM in the middle position, and Bill Lawrence L-280SN in the neck position. The L-250XL was wired to coil split (push/pull pot), and also wired to activate bridge pup (push/pull pot), and Bridge pup has it's own tone control while the middle and neck pups share a tone control.

Frog,

I also have a Clapton Strat! Mine is an older model, I got it in '90, so it was first or second year of production. I don't have any photos of it, but I'm working on it. Had some problems with the neck and needed to replace it. Clapton Strats did not carry a lifetime warranty at that point so it cost me $400.00 for a new neck! Love the guitar anyway!

Joe:)

I may spend most of my time drooling over PRS's, Thorns, McNaughts, and Driskills, but I always have a soft spot in my heart for Strats. I absolutely love them...

My SRV Strat is my main guitar. It was also my first purchase from one of "the big three". If I had pictures, I'd post 'em. One big difference from all of the other SRV strats I've seen is that my fretboard has a knot in it that looks like a negative of a satellite image of a hurricane sweeping through the 12-14th fret range. Tres cool!!

Another Strataholic here!

I have two a modded 57 Reissue (japan) with 2 mini humbuckers, no middle pickup and a 3 way toggle and a stock black USA standard strat.

Strats are easily my favourite guitar ever. They just seem so iconic and rock N' roll!

I love my CU24 but I don't think I'll be buying anymore PRSi* but I can defintately see lots of new Strats in my future!

San.

*This statement should be taken with a pinch of salt and can at no time be quoted to the author in the event of future GAS attacks!

62 reissue body with American Standard neck. Best of both worlds, I like the tone of the old style bridge and shape and fret size of the American Standard neck so I did a little "kit bashing".

Here's my baby. She's a 1996 50th Anniversary #79/2500.
She oozes mojo and has a rather fetching flame maple top.
PRS eat your heart out :)

I have 2 from Japan.

First one, Foto-Flame Floyd. hum-sing-hum route. In the mid '90's Fender wanted to keep up with the growing popularity of flame tops (thanks to PRS) while keeping costs down. So they basically took a picture and shrink wraped it around basswood. This process does not bother the resonance of the wood.

Second is an Iron Maiden signature strat. I coudn't name one Iron Maiden song if a gun was held to my head, but the guitar is excellent. Basswood body, single-single-single route, 2 Seymour Duncan Hot Rails SHR-1 (Neck and Middle), 1 Seymour Duncan JB Junior Humbucker (Bridge), original Floyd Rose

There is something about a Strat!

Prior to the time that I discovered my PRS affections I had big Strat GAS. I was buying and selling them, while creating several Frankenstrats along the way. Here is a very colorful rainbow of part of my collection from a couple of years ago.
http://images.andale.com/f2/125/129/6928125/1076179744077_stratssss.JPG

These are U.S. and MIJ's --with a nice Ash Tokai too. I have a few others including a '74 hardtail, a CS Mary Kay reissue, and a couple of nice late 80's U.S. reissues.

Believe it or not, my favorites are the actually the 1980's MIJ Reissue bodies and necks ---after they have gotten retrofitted with new electronics and a variety of boutique pickups.

I love Strats. (I actually keep an cheapie Ebay-acquired ProTone Strat in the corner of my office at work, for those days when I need a companion...it is a surprisingly good axe too)

actually it's cherry sunburst, and it also has the large 70's style headstock. it's a squier strat that i just bought a week ago and i haven't taken any pictures of it yet. i've got it "in the shop" having it setup the way i like and the fret ends filed down. the rough ends on the frets are the only thing negative i have to say about it. the day i got it i took it to a jam and i got lots of compliments on the tone. even the bass player commented on the sound. i took it in the next day to get it setup.

the quality of the squier standards has really improved over the past few years. they are not as well made as my santana se (original model) but i like them better than the mexican strats (which have the same issue with the frets from my experience)

Yours looks like a special edition with the nice cherry burst and the large headstock. That is probably a better instrument than today's Standard Squier.

Otherwise, I am not sure that I can agree that a Standard Squier is better made than a Mexican built Standard Strat.......But, it comes down to what ever works for you!!

actually it is today's standard squier. i boguht it brand new a week ago. i didn't say it was better made than a mexican strat i only said i like it better than the mexi strats and that in my experience i have found rough fret ends on a lot of mexican strats. i like the squier better because of the large headstock, the modern 2 bolt trem, and the limited edition finnsih. it actually sounds very good as it is. it plays and feels better than most of the mex strats i have played, but the squiers aren't consitant when it comes to quality. there a lot of bad ones and some good ones. mine is a good one. the mexican strats are much more consistant. i have found a few mex strats (one in particullar) that were REALLY impressive tone wise.

just to clarify.
