Whats the forum view on these. Thinking of hanging my McCarty, Ibanez, and Tele on the wall. Thinking the Hercules wall hangers would be good, But I'm worried about the weight of the guitars (particularly the PRS). Anyone had one fall off the wall.

The wall is likely to be just plasterboard. Anyone any experience in doing it this way?

Should I go for a 3 guitar rack instead? Space is a premium, so it has to be one that keeps the guitars almost vertical so as to be neat and tidy. As opposed to a the hercules that keeps them at 45 degrees.

Thanks.

G.

I've used the Off-the -Wall brand hangers for years with no problems. I try to hit a stud when hanging them, but some are ony on the dry-wall. All are very sturdy. I tested them by hanging a 40lb weight on them before hanging a guitar. Rock solid!

I use Hercules hangars for all my guitars. They work well. If you're worried about weight, screw 'em into studs instead of using the included drywall anchors.

My one concern about the racks is, with the guitars fairly close together, I'd likely ding something moving guitars in and out of the rack.

I use "String Swing" guitar hangers. I secured a 1x4 to the studs across the top of the wall about 7 inches from the top, then you can space the guitars as you wish.

Hey Zerolight, long time no see.
I use string swings as well, each one is set into the stud ( standard 16" apart) and they all fit just fine.

Never had any problems with them marking the finish on the necks.
It's amazing how much space you can save once you get them all off their stands on the floor.

RegardsOh that's my new HotRod fire Supreme. It's a very warm sounding amp, but I don't think I'll be using it much this summer. :D

That 40-lb weight didn't happen to have a girl's name and be related to you, did it?? :D

I used a string swing to hang a guitar (well...several guitars, one at a time) and never had a problem. Mine's into this cheap, ugly panelling - I used the drywall anchors - and it's held just fine. I think the heaviest guitar I ever put there was 12 lbs or so.

Hey Jo, hello again. Still a wonderful collection of guitars you have there.

Thanks to everyone, I'll go check where all the wood is in the walls, then get some string swings to screw into it (hopefully). Thanks for all the advice. :)

Jo - what a wall! That is so cool!

I have string swings and some other kind with the claw coming out of a block of wood. I didn't worry about lining up with the studs. Life is too short.

Everything works fine so far - I've even surpassed Jamie's 40 pound test by hanging my Santana on one of them.
