Just wanted to send out a last-minute invite to any Arizona BAMmers!
My band is playing this Saturday night (5/29) at the Monastery Mesa in east Mesa. It's a long drive for most, but the upside is that we're playing for the Monastery Mesa's first annual BIKINI CONTEST!!!
I apologize in advance for any bad notes, because I may be somewhat distracted. :)
Check our band website for details: time, address, directions, etc. (See my sig line.)

Heh heh heh... Thanks for the interest! :)
It's been a couple of days, but my mind is still reeling from that show...
What can I say? There are good shows, and there are great shows. And then there are Bikini Contests! :D
I'll be posting a full gig report with pics in a few days, and believe me it WILL be worth the wait!

I STILL haven't updated my band's website with pics from this show, but the Monastery Mesa has upatded their website with a bunch of pics, so check out the link!
http://www.realfunbar.com/m3_bikini.htm
It looks like the pics they put up are not super high quality, but I can't tell for sure because I've been having problems with my Internet Explorer. When I update our site I should have some higher quality pics, but unfortunately it won't be until after the July 4 weekend since I'm leaving on vacation this Monday.
"Miss USA" won the contest, for pretty obvious reasons!

But my favorite was "Rose" who came out in a flimsy sheer cloth top (instead of a bikini top) for the second round!

Here you can see ALL the girls dancing for the finale while we played "Baby Got Back!" Hilariously, our bass player played the first half of the song in B, while I was playing in C like it's supposed to be played, so it must have sounded like a nightmare! Not that anyone noticed/cared!

Anyway sorry for the brief update, but check out the link for more pics! I will provide full gig report and better pics as soon as possible!

Can I join your band? ;)

>Holy crap Jim! A ten top if I ever saw one!
Amen to that! I think it's a crime against humanity that this girl (Rose) came in THIRD instead of first!
How about one more pic? I'm feeling generous! :D

Only problem is, I don't think I'll be able to top these first two pics!
See you next week!

Can I be the roadie ?
What I like about Rose is that she isn't putting on a fake smile. Oh, and is there a waterfall in these pictures?
Mercy Jim, it's a wonder that anything coherently musical was played by your band that night.

I was gonna ask how much you guys got paid for that gig.
But then I thought I'd ask 'how much did you guys pay to do that gig'?
Rose is simply gorgeous (sorry stateside guys, but she makes Miss USA look like a fella! :D ). What a terrible shame the moths had got to her t-shirt beforehand....

It was a good idea to have that "CAUTION" tape all over the place.
Anyone bust any G strings at the gig?;) ;)

Looks like he had more than his share of guitar stands at that gig! :)

Jim,
How did the leads for the Blue Matteo SC challenge pan out?
I would have bought the one at Gravity Strings (non 10-top, dots), but they were asking almost FULL LIST PRICE!!! Their "discount" was something like 2%. Worst of all, their other sales guy originally mentioned a discount of 30% and then had to renege after talking to his flunky!
I sent them about seven different Singlecut price quotes I received that same week from several other dealers (locally and on the internet) who were all still selling PRS Singlecuts at 30-44% off list. (No kidding! Wilcutt in particular had some great deals.)
I never heard anything back. Just figures that the one dealer who has a Blue Matteo Singlecut happens to be a price-gouger. Maybe I'll start sending them a weekly e-mail of all the SCs available on eBay, most still with very reasonble Buy-It-Now prices. :)
Anyway, I did still get a couple more Rose pics for you in the TGP thread:

The SAS in the lower-right corner looks nice. Does it has flame maple neck?

Dude, you have serious issues if you even saw that guitar! :D
Jamie
Yeah, what's with all these silly questions about gear and guitars, I'm trying to type, but the keyboard tray keeps getting pushed back in for some reason!

>The SAS in the lower-right corner looks nice. Does it has flame maple neck?
Yeah, that's my natural SAS with flamed neck, birds, and hardtail bridge. It's the same one that's in my sig line (PRSs Webshots link). If you go to the full set of pics at www.realfunbar.com/m3_bikini.htm , you can probably see some pics with the band ( in the background, of course :) ) with the SAS and the Fender Showmaster FMT that I was playing most of the night.
Sadly, the SAS will probably retire from gigging soon, because I picked up another Showmaster FMT (this one in transparent Cobalt Blue) to use as my backup for when I break a string. Much as I love the SAS, I'm much happier playing the Fender all night because of the neck ("modern C" thinner neck and 25.5 scale) and true single-coil clean tones. It feels weird to switch to the PRS, even just for a few songs. Sad but true! :(
>Dude, you have serious issues if you even saw that guitar!
Don't be too hard on him! After all, someone else noticed our bass player's "deer-in-the-headlights" expression in the background! :) But it is funny how guitars and gear suddenly seem unimportant whem looking at pics of Rose!
