I'm thinking of getting a multieffects board in the near future. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions, I don't want to spend a small fortune but want a reliable board that is very user friendly. These are the effects I would use the most so I'm looking for these effects to be pretty good:

Acoustic Modeling
Reverb
Distortion
Wah

I don't really care about amp modeling or any of that stuff.

Thanks in advance.

Well everybody around here swear by the Boss GT6. And then there's the new Vox Valvetronix SE thingy.

But if those are out of your budget, I'd look at the Digitech stuff. I always thought Digitech made a good product. It's not a tube amp, just really good at what it does. Other choice is Zoom, but I don't know how their products compare to Digitech's.

As far as acoustic modeling, they probably all suck, though.
Put a Ghost in your SSE - that would rock to no end! :dude:
Why settle for modeling when you can have the real thing?

Sounds tempting on the ghost - not much or a carpenter though - cutting my guitar makes me nervous.

Any other board recommendations besides the GT6, the Vox looks a little pricey for my skill level.

Email me if you ever think you might want me to do the GHOST for you.

Hey Dan,

Have you installed the Ghost system before? I SERIOUSLY want to install one in my TSE and could use some assistance in getting the right system from somebody who has actually done it.

Can you email me? feathersrd@reagan.navy.mil

BTW, from my past experience with Zoom, they have some extremely cool effects. However, if you're going to use it as a preamp/effects unit, Zoom's distortions are nowhere near the quality of the Digitech stuff.

Thanks for the offer Dan,
Might look into that as a project for next summer...I only feel like doing a heavy duty mod once in a summer.

This year most of the funds went into the #10s, but am hoping to have enough lying around for the board.

I really like my Boss GT-6. It sounds pretty darn good going straight into the PA direct too. It's got the acoustic sim in it, which is not too bad but certainly not as nice as my piezo straight into the PA.

All I gotta say is stay away from the Digitech stuff. To my ears it's all too thin. I get earaches from hearing them things in use.

Thanx for all the advice...

2 questions
1. Has anyone used the new Korg Toneworks model (10AXG or something like that)

2. Dan - how could I install the ghost system on my SE with the wraparound stoptail? Starting to get some MOD GAS for an acoustic sound.

Brian,

Unfortunately, I think you'd have to change the bridge to one with indepenent (adjustable) saddles. Then you can just change the saddles for the GHOST ones.

One thing's for sure, you wouldn't regret it - the GHOST sounds amazing! Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

I'm not a real big pedalboard person but I have one of those Vox ToneLab SE's at the house for evaluation and so far it's been a lot of fun. Actually the concept of using the onboard 12ax7 tube as a mini amplifier rather than a preamp device is fairly ingenious. I'll post more info as I figure this thing out a little further.

I have one and well for a while I liked it but I think that along the lines of the other comments you have to really tweak it to get what you are after. There are maybe 3 presets that are even halfway decent.

After a while I just put it away. I pulled it out this week and tried again but I think with effects like this you really need some time to get them dialed in to what you are after and figuring out how to do that takes some time. It is not difficult to do but as I have limited amount of time I really have not gotten very proficient at using it.

That being said, the range of tones you can coax out of it seems to be pretty nearly endless so something good has to be in there. If you go to a site like harmony and read up on them the reviews are mostly very positive.
