Hi Guys and Gals,

I'm in the process of building a pedalboard and was wondering if there are any rules of thumb to follow when ordering effects? Do you put modulations in front of overdrives or visa-versa?

The pedals in my chain will be: Lovepedal Boost, Boss Chorus, Marshall overdrive and a Boss Phaser.

Any suggestions for ordering these or is it just "whatever sounds best"?

Thanks,

San.

Thanks John,

Your suggested setting is actually how I have it at the moment except for the chorus in the effects loop - I'll try it.

Thanks for the response.

San.

I bet that would explain why when I bought a Boss CH-2 a couple weeks ago and put it in front of the amp, it sounded like ass in a basket, and I ended up returning it.

Zach, I did the same thing.

I always put my chorus in the loop, but I've tried it in front of the amp, turned the FX level down, and gotten good results. Not bad.

Zack - "it sounded like ass in a basket" that's great!

The only thing I put in a loop is delay. I like chorus in front of the amp much better, even with overdrive. I like to get that swirling sound, and to me, chorus in a loop gives you a metallic, wiry, sound.

To each his or her own, when it comes to pedals!
