So I was screwing around with my guitar yesterday, started playing the intro to "La Villa Strangiato", had to pull out the Exit...CD to play along (and get that whole "middle of the song, guitar solo frenzy" out of my system) and the question loomed in the back of my mind

"what was Alex using back then?"

so, I had to throw it out to the group (I'd think at least Jo might know) :)

Any help'd be appreciated and it's nice to have BAM back up and running!

On Exit Stage Left, Alex was playing the White Strat, the ES 335, and mostly (I think), a Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion, which is the sunburst-y semi singlecut hollowbody you see on many pics from that era. Amp wise, wasn't that his HiWatt phase?

Ah, yes, the Exit Stage Left days. Dan, once again, you've not let us down.

I don't know the model #, but he was using two Marshall 2x12's, I think the speakers were aftermarket, sitting on top of two Hiwatt 4x12's run with a Hiwatt head. There was also a rack back there. I know the MXR Distortion + was a big part of his sound back then.

Peter, I can't tell you how many times I've done what you did, countless, and fun every time.

Any idea on the Chorus and delay effects?

Roland SDE 3000 delays? Or was that a little later?
And probably a Roland/BOSS Dimension D for chorus.

Dan, I think you're right againSurprise, surprise... ;)

I'm just not sure that the SDE 3000 was available in 1981. He may have switched to that a little later. I bought an SDE 1000 back in 86-87.

For chorus, I think he was still using the Roland/Boss CE-1 Chorus Ensemble.
