I've been sweating things lately. I work in the CRT (cathode ray tubes) industry and the company is downsizing by 10% and I've been hording my cash like crazy in anticipation of being let go. In my meeting this morning I was told that I wouldnt get the axe, and in fact I'm being moved to another department because the yields have dropped and they need help to get the yields up to a acceptable level. A big weight has just been lifted off my shoulders and I feel like a new Donk. Sorry if I seem to ramble on, but wow I'm stoked!Dude!
Oh, and the extra cash I've been hoarding is going torwards a new PRS to help celebrate the occasion.;)
(Like I need another reason to buy a guitar :D )

It seems kind of funny to congratulate someone for keeping their job so I'll just say "good for you!". :)

Good to hear to made it through unscathed...this is still a lot of turnover out there right now. :(

That's gotta feel good. Employment is a handy thing what with the paychecks and all.
Luckily I work for a govrnment support contractor and the government hasn't really caught on to the downsizing concept yet. Don't have to worry about overseas competition either. :D

Positive cash flow = good thing (thank you Martha Stewart)
The company I work for went through a rough period about 10 years ago. We downsized then, and today we employ almost 3 times the people we had. Hang in there. It looks like the economy has turned up.
You must be adding value in the eyes of your firm - go get yourself something cool.
That certainly is great news for you. There's nothing like being unsure with your job security.
So whatcha going to buy? Dude!

Possibly this. Vintage Yellow is just too classy of a color to pass up.

I'm waiting on "The Pusher" to email me the quote.

The government hasn't caught on?? You kidding? The government's all about contracting out work. You're in the safest spot you could be in.
I work for the government and I'm going to lose my job within the next 18 months to...government support contractors...after 17 years of service. Not a good place to be, having to start all over again at age 44.
Awesome! You get confirmation AND you've hoarded away cash for a new PRS, what could be better?Dude!

To get this PRS, AND my Thorn;)
If you buy a guitar or two, Donk, you will be a classic example of supply-side, trickle-down economics.
WHOOPS...no politics. I hereby ban myself.

Good to hear! Now, I don't want to be like a wet blanket on your hooray-party, but ...
Well ...
There's a few folks at my old company (an ISP) that sweated out multiple rounds of layoffs...and a few months ago when the layoffs stopped, they all thought "Whew! I made it!"
The company announced their intention to file Chapter 11 on Monday...
Keep that resume up-to-date :D

It's inevitable in my industry as well ,Wes. 12 years ago there were 15 CRT manufactures in North America alone. Today there is only 6, and 3 are in Mexico. We have about 2 years I'd say untill we close the doors. All I'm hoping for is that we have enough time so I can complete my degree.

Sounds like good news to me. You'll have to give us a full tone report on whatever you get with you extra cash!

Great news! I don't mean to rain on your parade but a month an a half ago I was told the same thing in a face to face meeting with one of my old companies' owners... as was my supervisor and manager. Two days later I got notice that I would be laid off at the end of December... much to my, my supervior and my manager's surprise!!! :(
But on the bright side... I started my new job before my old one terminated and I love it!!! :dude:
