Ok, as promised, here is the funk tune I was working on... kinda bluesy funky, really... I couldnt decide which way to go, so it's influenced by both.

Drums and Bass are looped... I do play some bass, but not good enough to do this groove! :)

The rhythm guitar playing all of the 9ths is my CU22 direct. Second rhythm guitar (playing power chords) is my SoapSE direct. The lead guitar is my CU22 through my POD XT.

Horn section is my Alesis QS6.1 which I sequenced for 4 trumpets, a trombone and a sax.

Vocals are though an AT4040. If you hear any cicadas, blame the mic. :D

All are mixed down, effects added, etc... though Sonar 3 Studio.

Hope you enjoy, and if you have any tips, feel free to throw them my way! :D

Still not sure on the vocals... I seem to be taking a cool groove, and dumbing it down with the standard blues vocal lines. May redo all of those.

Thanks guys!! :D

The lyrics are still graiting on me a bit... Great song, with mostly childish lyrics and melody. I still can't decide what to do with it.... leave it or try and re-write melody and lyrics. Some of the lines are really cool though, like "The world stepped aside to let you through" just really works.

Dana, sorry you can't hear it... what a drag! Have Stellar fix your 'puter next time she's over! ;)

We need to get together for a jam soon anyway... I'll bring a copy on CD if you still hadn't heard it yet! Or we have that factory tour coming up in a couple of weeks...

Peace,
Aldwyn

Thanks again, guys!

Yes, the loops are purchased with a CD. I think this one is either Beta Monkey or Smart Loops... can't remember which!

It was mixed down using Sonar Studio 3x through an Alesis RA100 amp and Alesis StudioOne monitors. This does have some issue, though, as the StudioOnes can sound great on their own, and on 75% of systems out there... but then for some reason, on the other 25% of systems, the mix will sound dead, muddy and/or flat. <shrug> That's on the GAS list at the moment... new monitors and or amp.

Aldwyn,

Awesome!! Played it during lunch at my desk and the toes are still tappin'. I really love that grooving kind of stuff; you must have had a blast putting that together! Again, great stuff, you're really talented!!

Aldwyn, that piece was put together nice. FWIW, it was somewhat bass heavy on my end, but that could be my settings too.
