I noticed that too Randy, maybe only the Mods can delete a thread.

I know that when I click the "Edit" tab I get a screen that allows me to edit the post along with a tab that says "Delete a Thread"? The question is, is that just because I'm a Mod? Phil?

From the FAQ:

Can I edit my own posts? If you have registered, you will be able to edit and delete your posts. Note that the administrator can disable this ability as he desires. Your ability to edit your posts may also be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum.

To edit or delete your posts, click the http://forums.birdsandmoons.com/forum/images/buttons/edit.gif button by the post you want to edit. If your post was the first in the thread, then deleting the post may result in the removal of the entire thread.

After you have made your modifications, a note may appear, which notifies other users that you have edited your post. Administrators and moderators may also edit your messages but this note may not appear when they do so.

Does this help? Maybe? If not call 1-800-Phil Macino, press 9 for user menu, press 6 for options then hang up. Actually the above sounds right and just like it used to be. As thread starter if you delete the original post the thread should go with it. Somebody try it please.

Thanks,

Dave

Unless I have some moderator powers that I don't know about, I see that same box right at the top when I click on 'edit' in one of my posts.

Click on 'edit', and there is a big horizontal box at the top of the screen. It's titled "Delete this Message". Within that box are two buttons asking if you want to delete the message, or not. It's set to do not delete as a default. All you have to do is click the 'delete' button and below is a bar that says "Delete this Message".

Thanks guys,
I do not have that box at the top of my screen after hitting the Edit button.
I have read the FAQ and understand that it should be there. Please teach me
the secret handshake so I can "nuke" this thread. :D

Randy,

We have now completely exhausted the limits of my knowledge. What type of OS are you running?

Dave,
From theFAQ:
<<Note that the administrator can disable this ability as he desires. Your ability to edit your posts may also be time-limited, depending on how the administrator has set up the forum.>>

I still do not have the Delete option on my first post of this thread.
I do have it now on my second post of this thread. Someone else said that he did not have the Delete option, so it's not an OS issue, but rather a Admininistrator configuration problem.

No big deal here, just trying to help BAM work out the bugs.
This thread is now set to self-destruct.

Just got home from work (Yes, I do have a day job :D)

Everybody should be able to delete their own posts. I will double check this tonight.

And their own threads? Thanks Phil.

Dave
Yes, this was differentiator. Users' ability to delete their own threads was not turned on. It is now.

Thanks everybody for digging up another one.
