Oiling McCarty tuners?

OK, maybe it's a dumb question, but I've never owned Kluson type tuners before. Is that little hole in the back designed to accept some kind of oil, or do these things come with enouogh grease in them to last a lifetime?

Yeah I believe that's what they're for, but I can't remember the last time I had to oil them. If you do for some reason use very very little.
