i just ordered a set of the black magics from rs guitarworks for my santana brazilian. i figure its worth a try. i can always swap the other ones back if i dont like it. these look interesting too. i hope i dont like them too much on one hand. i have other guitars i'd rather not spend $300 for a set on.

WTF> it gives a link to click for more info on the iron mans, which is to some forum, which after registering still will not display due to insufficient permissions to view the forum.

I love your pickups man, having played a few sets myself, but damn if you want to sell a product don't make it a cruel practical joke to get info about it. grrr. The even more infuriating thing is I'll STILL end up having GAS for them given his track record for great pickups.

Sorry about that, it a confusion between the Axe House, who can see those forums( I'll call HERC about it), and me not finishing up the order page there yet. Sent me an e-mail, I'll send you that review, or a few of them, and ordering info.
It may just be that Mike hasn't gotten to your registration yet. I'll try to find out ASAP.
Then if you want to share that with anybody, feel free to do so.
But I see one guy just signed up there, and got right into the WCR part and posted about the Moore/Green set.

Jim,

How would you compare them to Darkbursts? Hotter? Fatter? You know the adjectives. 3 sets and counting!:D

Thanks, Joe

Mike says you probably didn't clik the activation link in the letter you were sent. If you can't get in still, just e-mail here, ask himn to do it manually.

I remember we purchased ours about the same time. I have #64. I have never really bonded with pups in this guitar. I LOVE the way it look, feels and plays. I have been debating alot about swiching to some sort of WRC. I have Goodwoods in LP, SR's in Strat. These guitars get 90% of my playing time now. I think at some point I am going switch out many other guitars to WRC's. My ear likes them very much. I usually send mine to RC to upgrade the electronics and tweak the set up etc. They have been good to work with. They installed the Fieten system on them and with the Strobo Stomp they make hair raise off my arm. I am not sure the SB needs any attention other than PUPs. I can't seem to fall in love with most of stock PRS pups but I love their guitars.

Sniper-V! Yeah, me too. I just don't seem to find the time, usually it is always customers that do them.....lol

Johan! Corect, Spun neck pickup, set wired out of phase.
The BetSet is kinda like a Crossroads neck, and a bridge wound slightly under that. That is what it takes to get the classic Dickey tone from the early days.

The Crossroads are early PAFish, right in that realm. Early Clapaton (WOF album ) will demo what they are like.
DarkBursts are a slightly overwound version of them, EVH brown sound, Bloomfields Super Sessions,Angus, etc.

Butterfly! I know, so many pickups, so few guitars.....http://forums.birdsandmoons.com/forum/images/icons/icon10.gif

i am going to take before and after pics so we can all compare how the look. ill also let you know about the sound as well.

jim. do you make strat and tele pickups or just humbuckers? also, are the black magic (and your other pickups i guess) splittable?

I occasionallydo Strat and/or Teles, but only when I have the time. I spend a REAL long time on then, the end results being apparent. The bummer is, I can build like 2 humbucker SETS in the same amount of time, and am usually buried in humbucker orders.

Any bucker I make can have optional 4-conductor + ground. Some guys just don't care about that or have any use for it, so 2 conductor + ground is how most pups in the PAFish range come stock. That will at least give you a phase-reversal option if they ever want it .
On the other hand, some of my stuff is standard 4X, like Hercs, Shredders, Black Magics, and the Iron Man.
Betsets and Moore/Green sets are standard braided.
Crossroads, DarkBursts, Goodwoods and Fillmores are stock 2X+ ground, but 4X can be added optionally.

thanks for the reply. so i assume that the black magics i ordered are going to be splittable. i'll also order the upgraded controls i guess!!!

I just finished installing my WCR Iron Man. This pickup is sick. I've never sounder so heavy in my life and Im playing clean through an OCD. Extremely workable, changing playing style makes huge changes in sound. It even cleans up nicely. This thing will probably put me over the edge and have a splitter installed. I've only been through about 6 high end pickups, so im no expert, but I am loving this.

what guitar did you install them in. all this talk im definately excited about my black magic pickups to put in my santana. i figure that combo should work well together. i also have a few older guitars that i want to do some stuff with. maybe a few more wcr sets will fix up those guitars nicely. (my wallet says ouch!!!)

(my wallet says ouch!!!)I just picked up a Honey Burst 50's neck Faded. The pickups are installed just like Greeny. Neck reversed. The guitar actually remineds me of the real thing. I will do a little laquer on the front and some aged hardware...that will get the job done. With the RS upgrade and Jim's pickups, it really grabs the tone. I am a Green and Moore nut, so if you want to get there tone wise, this is it.
