Once upon a time, on the PRS Forum, someone posted a spreadsheet that I believe worked out modes for a given key. I don't suppose anyone might have a copy...

That would be me. I'll see if I can find the files for you. I've changed computers since then so I'll have to track it down.

Mick, I'd love to see that as well if it's not too much trouble. Thanks, AC

Phil & Mods:

Any way that we could set up a 'Downloads' section for files like this? Members could submit useful files for approval and posting? Make it a Members Only section to keep people from leeching the files? Just a thought (or two).

If you email it to me, I can post on my server. I can also convert to a PDF file if that would work better.

I got a new laptop before Christmas and I haven't transfered those files this machine yet. It's on one of my other computers and will probably be the weekend before I have time to hunt it down. Hang in there.

Hey I found the file today on my work computer. Here is a link where you can get to it.

www.thornguitargallery.com/ChordChart.xls (http://www.thornguitargallery.com/ChordChart.xls)

There are three tabs in this file.

The "Scale Chart" shows a basic scale that can be manipulated to show the notes in any key.

The "Chord Theory" sheet shows what notes make up the various types of chords.

The "Chord Chart" sheet is a hybrid of the theory and scale sheet in that it has each of the chord types that can be copied and pasted to determine the notes for a chord type in any key.

There are some notes in the file that should help you figure out how to use it. I'll be glad to try and answer any questions you might have though.

There is a lot of information condensed in this little document. If you can digest what I have in this file, you will be well on your way to understanding a ton of music theory. I hope you guys find it useful.

Hi Mick,

I am unable to get to the URL that you provided. I am in Shanghai, China and have trouble getting to some sights because of how the gov't controls access to some web sites. I would really appreciate if you could email the file to me at tvonu@att.net

Thanks in advance!
