but ended up with a Blues Deluxe RI. I had GC put a Supersonic combo aside for me to check out, and when I got there, I A/B'd it against the Blues Deluxe. I was using the Bassman setting on the SS. I found the cleans of the BD to be a LOT fatter and richer than the SS, and the BD broke up quicker. The gain side of the SS was far superior, with a lot more gain and tone control, but I don't need a ton of gain as I use pedals for that, so I walked out with the BD (and spent a lot less than I expected. The reverb on the SS was a lot deeper, but again, I don't need that much. The BD really surprised me. I found it to be very similar to the Bassman LTD. Great amp for the money.

Yeah. I had a Blues Deluxe first time around, picked up a blonde one on end of line clearance in '96. I sold it about three years later because it was never getting any use as it was too loud for at home and the places I was playing were so small that a Pro Jr was amp enough and easier to carry. A coupleof years later I bought a Laney VC30 112 very cheaply, which is pretty much the same package with a slightly different recipie. It never gets used at home either, but I've been places in situations I can use it.

I wonder if they've addressed any of the reliability issues that the Blues Deluxe had a rep for in the old days? Mostly it was due to mechanical/vibration damage to the jacks, pots and the PCB traces connected to them.

The Blues Deluxe drive channel? That's what tubescreamers are there for :) A Les Paul with a TS-5 used to sound pretty good through mine if I recall correctly.

I actually set the drive to about 7-8, and use it for mild overdrive, then stack either an FDII or OCD on top for high-gain. Works great.

I have a '93 DeLuxe and just eBayed a '96 DeVille (4X10). I bought my blonde Super Sonic combo about four weeks ago and haven't touched the DeLuxe or ANY of my pedals.

However it works out is cool! I just have found the Super Sonic to be an amazing amp.

Definately a good amp. I was just surprised that the bassman setting wasn't fatter. I even dimed the bass and killed the treble, but the BD was still fatter. Not saying one is better than the other, just different. The gain side of the SS reminded me of all the good things about the Prosonic.

If I were in the market for a combo that just did wonderful cleans, a Fender Deluxe would be very high on my list, probably at the top.

I loved both clean modes. I wasn't keen on the OD, at least at store volume. Does it get better at higher volume (most amps do, I know, but how?).

I was bummed that I didn't get to use humbuckers in the store demo. I only use buckers for higher gain stuff ....

I bought a black Supersonic combo a few weeks ago and after replacing a bad tube it's just awesome! I can't wait to get a head box built and run this thing into some 4x12's. I played it last night with my new modded tubescreamer and it was just sublime! Awesome amp...awesome awesome awesome.

i bought my Blues Deluxe new in '96 and still love it....that fat smooth clean is a must have tone for me and i judge all other amps by that....

the OD is great on a mild setting as well...it's just not designed for higher gain...thus the name...

the only amp i've tried that sounded as good was the aforementioned Bassman Reissue LTD...

ALL my guitars sound great thru the BD...

I tried out a Supersonic a couple of weeks ago and left very impressed. Some very good OD sounds for a Fender Amp without mods.
