so now that we're all cozy here, waiting for TGP to come back up and resume our predilection to make absolute categorical statements regarding aesthetics and then call them 'opinions', i have a question...
gearslutz.com seems to have been gone for days. does anyone know what happened to this fine, fine, forum for peeps that are into high end recording gear? they had a load of really cool peeps that were frequent contributors and their forums contained an embarrassing wealth of riches regarding cool gear and technique.
it would be a shame if all that stuff were..... gone.
gulp.

Mr. Zero,
Are you running an Apple PowerBook by chance? I've been having so many hassles with pages not loading properly or at all recently.

I had a Hard drive failure and sent it off to their Texas repair facility. They got it back to me within one week, completely free of charge (incl. shipping), Great! They loaded the latest version of Tiger on it - which I didn't ask for however....

Best, Pete.

yup-ers.
i have the G5 desktop anchored in the basement for 'serious work', but the G4 AlBook gets used a lot 'cuz i can roam to and fro thru the wonders of wi-fi.
everything has been pretty cool and i'm not having the problems U mentioned (thankfully), it seems that the gearslutz link i had in my toolbar was <http://gearslutz.com/board/index.php3> rather than just the regular address. it's all good now.
i DID have an optical drive failure some time back, but that was because i tried to shove venetian snares 'a giant alien force more violent & sick than anything you can imagine'

(one of those crazy 3" CDs) into the AlBook's slot load optical drive. my apple pimp put it thru as a 'warranty repair' with the rationalisation that they make practically NO money when they (re)sell an apple, so when it comes to discretionary actions...
dumb move on my part, but it all worked out.
