I'm about to cook Gnudi and Pasta with Tomato and Peas. Giada's receipes.
And yes, between Giada and Rachael, it's ALL GIADA! I don't know if I have a really dirty mind, but I think she talks in double-entandres : "The flavor just EXPLODES in your MOUTH!"

And over time Rachael is just simply ANNOYING.
Hyper, constantly laughing at herself, making up words (WTF- "stoup"? "Sammiches"? STFU.). It's like she had to start doing coke as soon as she had blonde highlights put in her hair. "$40 A Day"? Like that's some sort of challenge? When I start taking vacation advice from Rachael f-in' Ray, I'm ready to start having tests done to actually map the progress of the errosion of cognitive functioning.
Now Giada, I can dig that. Great family lineage as well. Studied in Paris. Imagine that, a real chef for a cooking show. Elegant and well spoken. Yea, even with the melon head, I'd totally wreck that chick.
I'd rather spend 5 minutes chatting with Alton Brown than 30 minutes banging Rachael Ray.

Amen!
I'm always amazed at the money they must throw at Alton's shows to support his whacky style! His shows are always a riot!

I've been thinking about this.
Giada's smile can be annoying, but I'm sure that is the result of the camera. When she does that I blush and look down :p .
What I find more annoying about Rachael (apart from the Tomboyishness etc,) is that "Giggle" she does.......
Best, Pete.

Rachael's giggle is pretty annoying, but she does make some pretty good food. And I really like her retro kitchen on 30 minute meals.
Good eats has been one of my favorite shows for quite a while. AB is hilarious! Have you seen Ham on the streets? That show has quickly gone to the top of the list as well. Turkey bowling was a riot! His gas powered blender is just too cool!
Giada on the other hand, she makes food sexy!

Giada's breasts are made of natural ingredients like olive oil and mascarpone cheese.

Actually, my wife bought them for me, but she knew I wanted them badly! The "Ask Alton" segments on the DVD are wonderful. And Alton was right on about the Kershaw Shun Classic knives... do yourself a favor and get yourself some; they're not 'thick' like my Wusthofs, but they feel so much 'better'... at least to me. It's like a claymore vs. a katana.
Ah yes- and Ham On The Street... excellent show. I was prepared for some disappointment the first time I watched, but it was great! Gives some fresh angles on food and is sublimely entertaining.
Now- Tony Bourdain's "No Reservations" on the Travel Channel (good move) is also just another classic. I love it when he rips into Bobby Flay.

If you haven't done so yet, you ought to read Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential". A hilarious book about his path getting to where he is now. Total rock and roll chef. Very funny. He calls emeril an ewok IIRC.
I liked Rachel Ray initially (my wife watches her when she gets time), but yeah she quickly gets annoying - and now I'd have to say she is on way too much, how many shows does she have, twelve?. She is apparently one of the most hated tv personalities around, based on some of the websites that are floating around now. A little harsh if you ask me.
Alton still rules, though.

Bourdain's comments are always best while he's eating snake blood soup or something like that.

Ducati- I LOVED that line ;) , although while they weren't glowing, they did give the place a passable 'review' which was a surprise.
grego- thanks for reminding me! I read 'A Cook's Tour' 2 years ago, and just haven't picked up 'Kitchen Confidential' yet... I know I need to! (and Emeril IS an Ewok).

No Reservations is an incredible TV show, it's very informed and so direct! Try watching Bourdain back-to-back with $40 A Day if you really want to laugh your ass off.
