Finally got everything set-up and it is a lot neater than the old analogue studio:

Liking the Pro Tools a lot and it is very much like operating the AMS Neve stuff at work. Quality is fantastic and mixing down my album is becoming a pleasure.
Here's the view of the other corner:

 Looks like a nice work atmosphere there. Nice gear too!

I just wished my studio looked that neat. Unfortunately it is a wreck right now. I get busy working on stuff and keep telling myself I'll clean up later.....later doesn't seem to come often enough though.

Gary

studio looks great. Is it on the ground floor or basement? Noticed the radiator, assuming you leave the guitars out, do you have heating on/off? Finally, any soundproofing?

Its a Force 2000 Sonor kit, made in Korea but still sounds very nice.

I had a bog out of the amps but you havent seen whats behind the curtain behind the drum kit, lots of bits and pieces and I want to keep the room neat and tidy for the missus.

It is an upstairs room in our barn conversion, I have the central heating on but it does get very warm in the room as the walls are 3ft thick and built of stone.
No soundproffing needed really and the mix of natural stone, carpet and plasterboard makes it quite a nice room to record in.

Its 20ft square with the alcove for the drum kit and at the other end is a large sofa bed and a TV.

The speakers are Tannoy Jupiter 2's, I was going to get rid of them for some small Dynaudio's but I have just mixed my first track and played it back on my big Kef104-2's downstairs and it sounds great so I am going to keep them.

Once I have added the focusrite octopre I will be able to record a full band in the room.

Gary

Does the heat cause any issues for the instruments?

I tend to leave my heating extremely low in my humble ex-dining room cum study, but must admit not really sure of what I should do. Used to leave most of my guitars on stands in the room, for ease of use and 'pleasure' etc. But now have started to leave most of them, certainly the good ones, in cases, worried about warping etc.

Havent had any problems with warping I think modern instruments are fine in central heating coz the wood is pre kiln dried.

Nice looking room, Gary!

Are you able to mix with the monitors that low??

Its not ideal Les but the tannoys are not too directional and it actually works out OK.

They are HiFi speakers and it is recommended that you are listening above the HF units.

I always check things downstairs on my Kef 104-2's and they are in a 23ft square room. I also do some listening tests at work on the big Dynaudios.

I'll see how it goes, I want to get some self powered Dynaudios or even the Mackies based on the good vibes I've heard about them here.

I will then mount them on the stone wall behind the Digi 002, the Tannoys are just a bit too big to go there at the moment.
