PRS Trems

I want to drop from 4 springs to 3 on my PRSi. I found that even after removing all tension and unhooking the other end from the claw that the springs simply wouldn't budge from the trem blocks on any of them. I have never had this issue with other trem systems. Am I missing something here? I have never had to use even moderate force let alone extreme force on other guitars to make this change. If it were one instrument I could let ride but this is the case on ALL of them. Whats the trick?

As you try to remove the spring from the block, pull away from the spring claw as you pull up.
