Hamburger, American cheese, kosher dill pickle slices. Coffee. SunChip Harvest Chips.
This is for any of you BaMmers who are in the stages of performing not as a band, but solo artists in either an acoustic venue, or electric performers whose main style of performing is jazz as a solo artist.
At our local music scene, I have a regular opportunity to play at an open-mic, but have been stimied by the fact that I have never played as a solo act, and gotten paid for it. I'm in that limbo we know as hobbyist/semi-professional.
Recently, I've been purchasing gear more slanted towards a PA, with the usual mics, mixer, power amp and speakers.
If you've been in this position (limbo) before, can you share your experiences for a would-be solo artist like me just getting a real start towards performing live? (I'm one PA speaker, and a couple rack gig bags away from making this a reality.)
Thanks in advance, and let's hear from you! :)
