I recently purchased a used Dr. Z Maz 18 Junior. I have been loving the amp but have noticed a "crackling" sound coming from it when I play, especially when playing shuffle bottom 2 string type stuff. I have checked to make sure nothing came loose during shipping, but can't find anything. Anyone have any advice? Feel free to chime in Myles or Perry!

Thanks,
Joe:(

You sure it's a crackle and not a rattle? With it being the low notes it's gotta be something is being shaken.
I'm guessing you've checked to make sure all to tubes are seated well, and I'm sure you mean you've already popped out the chasis to take a look inside.

Maz Jr's are cool little amps!

I checked through everything again. Also checked the guitar. I think it may have been a loose jack. Everything seems to be working fine.

Thanks,
Joe

Try replacing your preamp tubes (usually 12AX7's).

The first thing I would do is to call the Doctor (Dr. Z himself) and describe the problem to him. He has always been very helpful and prompt in service matters.

Generally speaking:

crackle/static=tubes or loose electrical connection
pop=bad elect connection or capacitor
rattle=something mechanically loose
hissing=resistor failing
loss of power/volume=tubes or filter caps
hum=grounding problems
